What is a Capital Stewardship Campaign?
A Capital Stewardship Campaign is a church project that seeks pledged donations from members of the congregation to be used in paying for a major construction project or debt reduction.
How much money are we hoping to raise through the Greater Things campaign?
$4 million over a 36-month period. This amount is above and beyond the regular tithe.
Why do we have building debt?
We decided to build for two main reasons: to reach people for Christ and to build people’s lives upon a foundation of biblical principles. Our building has given us a strategic location for ministry and mission. We knew that waiting to build until construction was fully funded would significantly hinder our ability to serve others and construction costs were unpredictable. We were united in the conviction that building the church was a wise stewardship choice for where God wanted us to be. It was always our plan to, one day, pay off the entire debt. That time has come.
What does this debt represent?
The original $14 million project cost has been paid down to a balance of $7.2 million. This remaining balance impacts future growth of our church’s membership, missions and evangelism. Our goal is to pay this down by half through this campaign, allowing us to continue the incredible growth we have seen. Our staff has and continues to be good stewards of the resources for which they are responsible. The single reason for this debt reduction is to clear the path for our future, while taking care of the facilities that God has already entrusted us with.
Are there any other building expansion plans?
For the next 36 months, our focus is on debt reduction and keeping current church ministries strong. In 2005, the county approved a building plan that included an additional Student Ministries building. However, without significant debt reduction, there are no current plans to proceed with building the second building. As we approach the end of the Greater Things campaign we will prayerfully seek God’s plans for our future. We have always followed God’s leading in building ministry facilities and will continue to follow His direction.
What is the overall financial vision of the Greater Things Campaign?
The bottom line is to eliminate our debt and have cash in hand to enlarge ministry space for the student ministries, expand the sanctuary space; as well as purchase surrounding land and expand our parking.
When does Greater Things begin?
March 4th will be our All-Church Event & Commitment Day. Please bring your commitment card to that service or mail it in during that week. March 18th will be Announcement Sunday and First Fruits Offering. This is when we, as a church body, bring our first campaign offering to kick off the campaign. We believe we can reach our goal if we all do our part. Thanks for being faithful.
If I can’t give a large amount, does my pledge matter?
Absolutely! All pledges are significant, regardless of amount. As we all participate, according to our ability, God will multiply our giving.
What forms of contributions will be accepted?
Contributions can be made by cash or check. Other forms of contributions can include the transference of title to marketable stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.
